Generation 3 Toralei Stripe Review

Generation 3’s Toralei will be my first of this girl. While I never had her previously, I still remember when she first came out, and how cool I thought she was. While she has changed slightly and seems to have grown her hair out for this new generation, I still think she is as cool of a cat as ever.

Toralei’s transformation has her a bit cuter than before. She doesn’t give off as much of an edge, and fits in better with the rest of the generation 3 lineup. Regardless, she has so many cool details and a really stunning face screening. Torelai comes with her pet, Sweet Fangs, as well as several accessories. Her accessories include a microphone with stand, a carton of milk, a can of cat food, a t-shirt, her bag, and her iCoffin.

Sweet Fangs is definitely looking like a cute cub now, and not as intimidating as it’s Gen 1 relative. Torelai appears to be in a band now, and comes with a microphone that can detach from the stand, a band tee featuring her band the Hissfits, and a bag that also features this band. Her bag also has a dangling keychain of a mouse and feather. She also comes with a carton of milk and a can of cat food, and like all the other ghouls she comes with her iCoffin with a personalized home screen.

Overall, this Toralei is very cute. All of her clothing feels like it will hold up nicely with play or display, and her hair is thickly rooted and soft. Gen 3 Toralei is a Walmart exclusive, and in many people’s experiences hard to find. If you’re able to get her, I highly recommend adding her to your collection.

Generation 3 Deuce Gorgon Review

I haven’t ever been a huge fan of the “mansters”, but they do have their charm. Deuce is currently the only male doll in the Gen 3 doll lineup, and I feel as though his creators did a really great job with him and his details!

Other than the fact that Deuce is now green, I feel like he is a really good updated version of his Gen 1 self. Deuce is stylish with a denim jacket, and also comes with his pet, Perseus, as well as several accessories. His accessories include a water bottle, hair/snake wax, a cupcake, his glasses and work apron, his bag that can hold some of his accessories, and his iCoffin.

Perseus has received a bit of an update and no longer looks so rat-like. He kind of looks like a chipmunk or gerbil in my opinion. Deuce comes with several accessories, including a water bottle that you can take the cap off of, a thing of hair/snake wax, and a cupcake. Alongside the cupcake, Deuce comes with his work apron, so he’s always ready for a shift at the Coffin Bean. He also comes with his glasses (a necessity), and his bag that is able to open up to hold some of his accessories. Lastly, Deuce comes with his iCoffin. There seems to have been a batch error, because Deuce actually has the same home screen as Lagoona! I’m personally not bothered by this error; I think it’s kind of funny.

Deuce is an Amazon exclusive that I was able to order online the morning of launch day. I’m happy he’s in my collection, and I think he’s a really neat character to own.

Generation 3 Ghoulia Yelps Review

Ghoulia was one of the first dolls I felt I could relate to when I was collecting Monster High 12 years ago. Her unique personality and quirks made her so loveable, and I feel that way with this new generation as well!

I am loving Gen 3 Ghoulia’s new design! I’m so happy they kept her long, soft blue hair. Her thin features still give her that undead look that she needs. Ghoulia comes with her pet, Sir Hoots A Lot, and several accessories. Her accessories include a game device (that resembles a Nintendo Switch), a bag of chips, a skateboard, her glasses, a hat, a bag that is able to hold some accessories, and her iCoffin.

Sir Hoots a Lot closely resembles their Gen 1 version here. I’m happy to see Ghoulia still has her geeky side, as she comes with a gaming device and a skateboard that features her favorite comic Deadfast on it. She also comes with a bag of brain puff chips, her glasses, and a beanie hat. Her bag, which is textured like a brain, is able to open and hold some of her accessories. Lastly, Ghoulia comes with her iCoffin, which features a personalized phone screen.

Ghoulia is a Target exclusive doll, and I was able to get her on launch day. I think she is a really cute addition to the line, and like the other ghouls, I highly recommend getting.

Generation 3 Draculaura Review

Draculaura is a crowd favorite, and for good reason. Her designs have always been unique to her style, and she’s pretty in pink! Gen 3 is no exception to this, so let’s get into it.

Gen 3 Draculaura is adorable! She finally has a short stature that fits the original animations, which I know a lot of people were excited about. Draculaura comes with her pet, Count Fabulous, and several other accessories. Her accessories include a pretzel with wrapper, sunscreen, a cherry soda/slushie, a cape, some sunglasses, a bag that can open to fit her accessories, and her iCoffin.

Count Fabulous has received a slight update from Gen 1, but nothing too crazy. Her pretzel resembles a bat, as it has eyes and wings, and comes with a cute little wrapper to hold it. She also comes with a huge cherry soda/slushie to drink from. A necessity to vampires, she has a little thing of sunscreen, a cape, and sunglasses to use when outside. Like the other dolls, Draculaura has her own bag with bat wings that can open and fit some of her accessories in it. She also has her iCoffin, with a personalized home screen.

Alongside Cleo, Draculaura has what I believe to be one of the more diverse body types this line has to offer. She has a shorter stature than the other dolls, and a fuller build as well. It is easy to see this in comparison with her Gen 1 comparison. I feel like Draculaura’s body type is great representation for young children and teens. It helps build positive body image and positivity when exposed to a range of diverse body types, and Draculaura helps make that happen. It’s exciting watching everyone else get hyped up over her and love her as much as I do, and I can’t wait to see more of her in this line!

Generation 3 Cleo deNile Review

This is my first Cleo doll in 10 years, and I’m taken away by how gorgeous she is! Let’s unwrap the details.

Gen 3 Cleo is stunning. Featuring her original wraps, golds and blues, she is truly something else. While she may seem more like Nefera than Cleo, she is still a beautiful updated version. Like the other Gen 3 dolls, Cleo comes with a pet and several accessories. Cleo’s accessories include her pet Tut, a sandwich wrap, an urn or travel mug (honestly can’t figure out which it is), a makeup pallet, a fringe jacket, sunglasses, a bag, and her iCoffin.

Tut is either a sphinx or a dog – I honestly can’t figure out which one it is. Gen 1 Cleo’s pet was Hissette, which was a snake, so this is a clear change. I love Tut, but I do miss Hissette. Cleo also comes with a sandwich wrap, a makeup pallet that actually opens, and an urn or travel mug. I’m leaning more towards this being an urn, to keep her heart in. She also comes with a “fringe” jacket and sunglasses, as well as a bag resembling a pyramid, with detailing of linen wraps and scarabs. This bag can open, and is able to fit some of her accessories in it. Like the other dolls, Cleo comes with her own iCoffin with a personalized home screen.

Cleo has one of the more unique (in my opinion) body types that Gen 3 has to offer. I do not currently have any other Cleo dolls in my collection to compare her to, however Gen 1 dolls have the same body types (for the most part), so I’ll base my opinion off of that. Gen 3 Cleo is one of the taller dolls, and has more of a fuller and curvier build than the other dolls (with the exception of Draculaura). She has wide calves and hips, and while these dolls are mostly targeted towards children and young teens, I feel like this gives great representation for how a lot of people look. It is important to show diversity in body types, and I’m glad Cleo is able to display that confidently.

Generation 3 Clawdeen Wolf Review

Clawdeen was an easy-to-choose favorite of mine when I was younger. She has always been strong and independent, and I’m excited to see where this new generation takes her!

Clawdeen’s new design is definitely new. I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews on her, so I went into this slightly biased. However, I’m glad I’ve been able to form my own opinion on her, and I hope everyone else has the chance to as well. Her hair is poly, which means it isn’t as easy to manage as the usual Monster High dolls we are used to. Clawdeen’s hair out the box was less than ideal, so I took a risk and brushed it using one of my original Monster High brushes. Due to the quality and style of her hair, this caused it to poof up a good bit. I attempted a boil wash, which fortunately reset the hair to near factory style, but did not help the look overall. An online friend of mine recommended straightening with a flat iron at the lowest setting, and that worked wonderfully! I hope to one day re-style her hair, because it is beautiful.

Clawdeen comes with her pet, Crescent, along with a few accessories. Her accessories include a comb, a bag of chips, a blue cookie, a furry vest, glasses, a bag with a keychain, and her iCoffin with a personalized home screen.

Compared to Gen 1 Clawdeen, Gen 3’s version doesn’t give off the same vibe. I don’t really know how to put that into words, but the personality just feels different. I still love her, and I’m looking forward to her new designs that have yet to come!

Generation 3 Frankie Stein Review

I am in love with Gen 3’s Frankie! In this generation, Frankie is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns. This adds a whole other level of diversity and inclusivity to the already well diverse brand. It might take some getting used to for some, but I’m loving how open the community is to this new Frankie!

Out the box, Frankie is stunning. Their doll actually felt substantial, and in comparison to Gen 1 Frankie, is a bit taller and fuller. I am loving the prosthetic leg, and I hope those with prosthetics see them as charming as I do with it, and feel positive representation. Their hair is soft and full, and I’m so excited about all of the accessories they come with!

Frankie comes with many accessories, including their pet Watzie. Watzie, originally Watzit in Gen 1, is sporting a bandana and lightning bolt wings. Frankie is also equipped with a polaroid camera bag, that can hold the two polaroid photos they come with. There is also a slice of lightning bolt pizza, topped with yummy spiderweb cheese and spiders. They have a letterman – style jacket, and fashionable lightning bolt glasses. Frankie’s bag is, of course, shaped like a lightning bolt, and has a dangly keychain. This bag can fit in some of their accessories! Lastly, Frankie comes with their iCoffin, with a personalized home screen and phone case.

Compared to Gen 1 Frankie, there are clear differences. Gen 3 Frankie has more of a blue skin tone, stitches instead of bolts, and a prosthetic leg. Gen 3 Frankie no longer has neck bolts. Body size for the new Frankie is a bit taller compared to the original. Overall, in my opinion Gen 3 Frankie is a perfect updated image of the original, and I’m so happy they are joining us in this new generation.

Generation 3 Lagoona Blue Review

Lagoona was one of my favorite dolls when I was younger, and I’m so happy to see her reappearance in this new line! She’s my first Gen 3 doll to unbox, so let’s “dive” in!

Overall, her new design is, well, new. Lagoona Blue is no longer blue, but I don’t think that’s an issue here. She is still giving off the vibe that she is a fish, while having an updated look to her original sporty style.

Fresh out the box, I love her! Her hair is soft but needed a brushing, which unfortunately caused it to poof up and lose some of its curl. Her lower legs are translucent blue with unsealed pink paint over them, creating a really cool ombre effect! Unfortunately, it seems as though the pink paint is prone to chipping, so be careful with handling her; I’m sure regular play will cause wear here.

I am absolutely loving all the unique accessories she comes with! Neptuna has a new look for this generation! Lagoona’s accessories include a water bottle (the top comes off!), a bag of kelp chips, and a carton of fish snacks (looking like gold fish) that feature the original Neptuna on them! She also comes with a cute swimsuit to change into, and some sunglasses for when she’s going about outside. Of course, she has her iCoffin on her, complete with an individualized home screen and her shell phone case. She has her bag with her as well, designed as a shell that is dripping (water, maybe?). Bonus feature – the bag can actually open up to hold some of her things! I am in love with all the detailing and am so excited to see what the future brings for this girl.

Compared to the first generation Lagoona, there are some clear differences. Most obvious: G3 Lagoona is now pink! She still takes after the original blue, with the color change in her legs, blue leg fins, and blue scales on her forehead. G3 Lagoona doesn’t have the same fin shape as G1. G3 Lagoona has pink arm fins, and does not have webbed fingers. New to this generation: articulated torsos!!! I am in love with this feature – it opens endless opportunities for play, or in my case, posing. I’m sure adult and child collectors alike will love this doll and everything she has to offer.
