Abbey Bominable Review
Abbey was one of my favorite ghouls when I was younger. She has an unconventional yet captivating look that I always felt was extremely gore-geous. When I started to get back into collecting in early 2022, I knew she was a must for my collection, despite being hard to find and very expensive with the resurgence of Monster High. Finally, in December of 2022, I found her being sold online, new in box for a reasonable price, and ordered her faster than I’ve ever ordered anything before. A few days later, she arrived and was thrilling to open.
Disclaimer: She was new in box, however the box had some damage. Fortunately, I still had the box that my childhood Abbey came in, which has made it all these years in pristine condition. I removed the insert and discarded any rubber bands that broke with time, and tidied up her hair a bit. I then put the insert into my old box, and she has a much better appearance.
Now, I’m not an in-box collector. I like to pose my dolls, brush their hair, and admire them as much as I can. Considering Abbey’s worth at this current point in time, I’ve decided to leave her in-box. Despite not often collecting this way, she has allowed me to admire her in a way different than what I’m used to. Every time I look at her, I get hit with nostalgia, and feel that child-like excitement that I’ve always had when looking at a doll in the store.
Regardless of how you may have or want Abbey, she is an absolutely stunning doll that is worth every penny. Hopefully resale prices of these original dolls go down, but for now I recommend always keeping an eye out. You never know when a steal might come your way.
